Vital Network Solutions Puts Money On Caring For Retired Racing Greyhounds

IT management solutions company Vital Network Solutions is putting its best paw forward by helping a charity that looks after retired racing greyhounds.

Yorkshire (I-Newswire) November 7, 2012 - An IT management solutions company is putting its best paw forward by helping a charity that looks after retired racing greyhounds.

Vital Network Solutions, in Knaresborough, has donated computer equipment to Sheffield Retired Greyhound Fund after seeing an appeal via Twitter.

Vital also has an ongoing charity partnership with the Special Care Baby Unit, at Harrogate General Hospital, with several fund-raising events already planned for next year for that.

The donation to the Retired Greyhound Fund included a PC and printer along with software and installing it at the charity’s home in Wortley, to the north of Sheffield city centre.

Lee Evans, managing director of Vital Network Solutions, said: “The Twitter request really appealed to me as it was a little unusual and from a small local charity where our help would really have an impact. As a dog lover myself we’re really pleased to be involved with the Greyhound Fund”.

“The company usually has an annual day out at the greyhound stadium in Sheffield so you never know, we could be backing a winner that might one day benefit from our help.”

The Sheffield Retired Greyhound Fund is a branch of the national Retired Greyhound Trust which provides fully vetted and loving homes for as many retired greyhounds as possible so that they can continue to live a full and enjoyable life at the end of their careers.

Kate Barrett, treasurer of Sheffield Retired Greyhound Trust, said: "We put an appeal out to local businesses at a time when our computer was just not able to support our needs; we were operating on something which was a little archaic to say the least.

"Vital Network Solutions responded rapidly saying that they would love to support us, and a subsequent phone call to the MD Lee Evans opened a fantastic relationship and much needed support just at the right time.

"The internet is an important place for us to promote what we do at the Trust and using our old computer was proving inefficient and frustrating at times. Vital Network's generosity has been wonderful and we can’t thank them enough for their help.”
