Vancouver's Beanworks Arrives at Silicon Valley's Blackbox Connect

VANCOUVER, Canada - March 17, 2014 - Beanworks Solutions is honored to have been selected for Google-sponsored, Blackbox Connect, a two-week accelerator program in Silicon Valley that starts today. Sixteen companies from around the world were nominated by Google for Entrepreneurs partners to collaborate together while taking part in an intense agenda of workshops and meetings with investors, experts and executives. Beanworks is the only Canadian company selected to attend the Spring 2014 program.

"This opportunity will help Beanworks move to the next stage with workshops such as managing for growth and venture capital investment," says Catherine Dahl, who is attending as CEO and co-founder of Beanworks. "We are getting ready for venture investment by mid-year and the business information and connections to the investment community that it will provide are invaluable and timely. I've been asked to chronicle Blackbox in a guest column for the Globe and Mail's Report on Business so I'll also be able to share the key insights with fellow Canadians."

"We've seen firsthand that entrepreneurship is thriving in communities all over the world," said Google for Entrepreneurs director Mary Grove. "One of our goals is to connect our thriving partner network entrepreneur communities with one another and back to Silicon Valley. Blackbox Connect does this so well, bringing founders from across the globe to work and live alongside one another in an immersive two-week program. Our hope is that founders drink from a firehose and can return home inspired, energized, and connected with a broader community."

Beanworks graduated from Communitech's Hyperdrive accelerator program last year, and specializes in eliminating the manual, paper-based steps in mid-sized companies' accounts payable (AP) invoice processes. Its cloud-based BeanworksAP automation solution provides real-time visibility into the status of every invoice, eliminates paperwork, and automates business rules while reducing invoice-processing costs by at least 50%. Beanworks is the first AP automation solution to offer true multi-entity capability - providing users a convenient, single access point to process invoices across multiple locations, databases, entities and even business units.
