The Hotel California San Francisco Welcomes Summer Yogi in Residence Program

The Hotel California proudly introduces its summer Yogi in Residence program. Beginning August 18, Hotel California Yoga will offer two different class levels designed for both beginners and more advanced yoga practitioners.

Further enriching its guest experience, the Hotel California proudly introduces a summer Yogi in Residence program. Beginning August 18, yoga classes will be led by seasoned yogis from around the country and will be offered to both hotel guests and Bay Area locals for $10 per class, or $8 per class when they sign up for a full week.

Hotel California Yoga will offer two different class levels designed for both beginners and more advanced yoga practitioners. Classes kicking off on August 18 will run daily through August 31 and will be taught by Manhattan-based yogi, Dana Tarasavage.

Pre-registration is strongly encouraged and can be done via Paypal through Dana's website at www.danatarasavage.com

August classes include:

• From Scratch: Start Your Yoga Practice
Ever wondered what yoga is all about? Wanted to try yoga, but don't know where to start? Been to a yoga class but still feel confused or intimidated? This series is just for you! We'll start at the very beginning, with breathing. Day by day we'll build from there, gradually learning postures, alignment and focus techniques that will help you lay the foundations of a meaningful yoga practice. Class is 1 hour and 15 minutes long and held at 11 am on Saturday and Sunday, and at 6 pm Monday - Friday.

• Ashtanga Yoga: Explore the Series
Ashtanga yoga is a challenging style that offers practitioners a chance to build strength and flexibility while cultivating a calming personal practice. In this class series, students with existing yoga practice will get the opportunity to delve deeper and explore the Ashtanga method. Class is 1 hour and 15 minutes long and held at 1 pm on Saturday and Sunday, and at 7:30 pm Monday - Friday.

Yogi veteran Dana Tarasavage has taught yoga to professional dancers in Florida and France, future lawyers at Columbia University Law School, and to patients and staff at the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention, among many others. She travels to Mysore, India annually to study yoga and Sanskrit at the Shri K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute (KPJAYI) to further her connection to the roots of this practice and began assisting authorized Ashtanga teacher Lara Land at New York's Land Yoga in 2012. Her extensive experience includes working with all age groups and absolute beginners to more advanced practitioners as well as athletes and people with injuries. She is also a Pilates instructor with training at New York City's Movement Salon, and a published poet featured in the Poetry of Yoga.

"Now yoga fans and those looking to start the practice can do so at Hotel California," said Rick Butler, Hotel California owner. "Beginners will have the opportunity to learn the benefits and foundations of yoga for a lifetime of practice and experienced practitioners will no longer have to search the city looking for a class during their visit."

The Yogi in Residence program joins the arts-friendly hotel's growing list of unique amenities that also include its Writer in Residence and Artist in Residence programs which bring acclaimed writers and painters from around the country to work among its guests.

Yogis interested in teaching at Hotel California must offer an introductory course in addition to more advanced classes and may contact Paula Barragan-Butler at Paulambarragan@yahoo.com for more info.
