Superclean Redesigns Danny Barnes Website for New Album 'Rocket'
Danny Barnes releases new album 'Rocket' on ATO Records which includes a guest appearance by Dave Matthews.
Online, November 29, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Superclean Web Design just re-designed the website for ATO Records recording artist Danny Barnes, whose new album 'Rocket' was released on November 8th, 2011. 'Rocket' is the follow-up to the acclaimed 'Pizza Box' from 2010.
The new album is actually available in 3 different versions and various formats: 'Rocket' is the primary release, 'Angel' features the same batch of songs but as solo voice and banjo, and 'Poison' collects the original demos that Barnes created in his home studio. While all releases are available via digital download and the first two on CD, 'Poison' is available in cassette tape format.
The songs on 'Rocket' were written for Barnes' new custom instrument: the barnjo. The barnjo is a hybrid electric guitar and banjo. Like 'Pizza Box,' the new record was produced by John Alagia (Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Ben Folds Five) and features Matt Chamberlain (Pearl Jam, David Bowie, Of Montreal) on drums. Dave Matthews also appears with background vocals. Matthews himself signed Barnes to ATO in 2009.
Barnes wrote all of the songs for the record except for the T.Rex classic 'Bang A Gong (Get It On),' which only appears on the 'Rocket' version of the releases. Barnes was inspired by T.Rex founder Marc Bolan during the entire songwriting cycle, referencing Bolan for his sonic vision.
"It's really cool the way you can find these demo versions of some classic old albums. Like if you hear Marc Bolan's acoustic versions of Electric Warrior. It's interesting to me the concept of negative space in music. My point is that ofttimes you can sort of hear the orchestration in a solo performer's head as they play. And that part of the music is shared within your imagination and theirs, at the precise moment. That's pretty magical." says Barnes on his website.
Superclean Web Design, based in Alameda, California, has been working with Danny Barnes for most of his solo career (it has been 11 years since Bad Livers broke up.) Thanks to DannyBarnes.com being built on the Drupal platform, Superclean was able to redesign the skin layer the earthy tones of Dave Matthews' 'Pizza Box' artwork to a new purple, spacey theme for 'Rocket' on a very short timeframe.
