Showtime Publications, a New York-based publications business that has been in business 31 years, announces that it is expanding its business to include book publishing under the name - SHOWTIME BOOKS.

"The book publishing industry has undergone drastic change in the past few years because of computers and smart phones - and smart everything," says Bob Williams, President of SHOWTIME Publications and SHOWTIME BOOKS. "A lot of regular people who have stories to tell can now become authors. And we can give them a print run of a thousand books, a hundred books, or just one book!"
The book publishing service being offered by Showtime Books handles all the aspects of publishing. Showtime edits the book manuscript, designs the cover and pages, establishes the book's ISBN which records the manuscript in the U.S. Library of Congress, distributes the book to wholesalers, and promotes the book. Distribution includes placement on book selling sites such as Amazon.com and other outlets. Distribution also includes copies of the book for the author to circulate and distribution to book stores such as Barnes and Noble.

One book that Showtime is currently working on involves a San Francisco firefighter, John Byrne, who pedaled his bicycle from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Brooklyn Bridge in 36 days this time last year. He traveled across the country on his bicycle to raise money to purchase a vehicle designed for his sister Lauren who has special needs. Lauren became paralyzed from the chest down after jumping into a backyard pool and needs a car that is equipped with hand controls. This type of vehicle will give her more independence and enable her to go away to college. The book titled, "Lauren's Ride", will focus on John's trip through America providing insight into his stays at a different firehouse each night and stories about all the good people he met along the way.

In addition to "Lauren's Ride", Showtime Books is working with Business Guild II of the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce on a book in which twenty-two guild members will reveal their individual secrets to success providing commentary and anecdotal information on what they learned throughout life to get them to the positions they are in now. The working title of the book is "Success" and it will be published the end of November.
