Here are just two of the self defense myths that Brett lists in his report (to see the whole report for free visit brettlechtenberg.com):

Self Defense Myth: "After a self defense class you will be totally qualified to handle any attacker. - A huge mistake. Most self defense classes focus on one particular type of situation or scenario and fail to explain how concepts and strategies can be applied to a variety of situations. Additionally, attendees after one, or a few, short seminars usually can't remember what they were taught or how to access the information in their mind under stress. It's important to realize that any type of skill is perishable and should be trained and refreshed on a regular basis."

Self Defense Myth: "I react better under pressure so when I have to defend myself I won't have any problem. - Wrong! Without proper training and preparation all people fall victim to what we call the 'Reactionary Gap.' This is true in any situation where training has not occurred."

When asked about his presentation at the Sandy City Chamber of Commerce, Brett said, "It's always great to speak to the Sandy Chamber. The Chamber does a wonderful job of taking care of its clients and the people who attend the events take their success seriously."
