(I-Newswire) September 23, 2010 - Ryder supplies first wave of new vehicles for Babcock International Group’s defence division

The first batch of vehicles supplied by Ryder Europe, one of the UK’s leading transportation companies, to Babcock International Group PLC have been delivered under a contract hire agreement to the Group’s defence division to support MoD contracts in Kent and Hampshire.

The 28 vehicles include Land Rover Defenders, Ford Rangers, Ford Transits and Ford Transit Connect vans. Ryder has been supplying rental vehicles to Babcock for some time, but this is the first time it has entered into a contract hire agreement.

In addition to providing vehicles, the agreement also includes the provision of Ryder’s fleet management technology solutions such as FleetCare Online, which provides online access to detailed vehicle information and documents to analyse fleet costs and reduce internal administration. FleetCare can also be tailored to match operational and fleet structure, giving greater control over compliance and vehicle spend.

“We have had a long history of supplying vehicles to the MoD and are fully aware of the MoD transport regulations,” comments Terry Dillon, fleet management director, Ryder. ”This new contract agreement enables Ryder to provide Babcock with a comprehensive fleet management solution, integrating a fleet of quality vehicles with our proprietary FleetCare technology and comprehensive maintenance support.”
