India Fire & Security Yatra 2014 reaches Mumbai

Fire and Security Association of India (FSAI) a non profit organisation aims to establish Life Safety and Security as an important human obligation in the economic development of the country.

In line, with this objective, the NGO in association with UBM India, has undertaken a mammoth 11 city roadshow to spread fire safety awareness amongst public and enterprises.

After visiting Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad, the fourth halt of the yatra was Mumbai, which was hosted on 22nd August 2014 bringing together the entire fire security and safety enterprises based in Mumbai. The event showcased cutting edge technologies, new products and services from leading global and Indian manufacturers and product companies, technology sessions, panel discussions and live exhibits.

Mr. Joji George, MD, UBM India said; "The issue of Security and Safety needs discussion and addressal amongst Industries, Corporates and residential societies, alike. Our focus for IFSEC India which is to bring together every business need, technology, understanding of regulations and strategies that need to be covered to strengthen all entities in the commercial, civil and fire safety value chain, extends to this Yatra too, as part of our initiative with FSAI.''

The highlight of Mumbai event was the talk by the Chief Guest Mr. David Akov, Consul General, Consulate of Israel in Mumbai and the panel discussion moderated by Mr. Rajan Luthra, National President, FSAI on Smart Video Analytics – opportunities and Challenges for Indian Environment and Engineering Life Safety measures at Design by Choice among others.

The panelists included key speakers such as Mr. Aamer Azeemi, MD India & Asean, Cisco who discussed about Smart cities, Mr. Sunil Nesarikar, CFO In-charge, Mumbai Fire Brigade, Mr. Rajendra Shinde, Mumbai International Airport Pvt. Ltd. (MIAL) shared insights based on their knowledge and expertise required to improve the physical security and fire safety.

Speaking about this initiative, Mr. Rajan Luthra, National President, FSAI, said “India Fire & Security Yatra is aimed at furthering FSAI’s objective of promoting and advancing the use of fire safety and security systems that will foster a spirit of safe living among all citizens of India and inculcate a proactive mind-set towards safety and security. This initiative is yet another step in further bringing awareness to address the safety and security needs of all consumers in India.”

Over 100 major Indian and global industry players participated in the Mumbai event, including reputed names such as Reliance, Honeywell, Tyco, Autocop, Hikvision, and Toshiba. From Mumbai the IFS Yatra will continue its journey to cities such as Ahmedabad, Pune, Kolkata, Coimbatore, Visakhapatnam and will finally culminate in Kochi on 19th September.
