In July 2010, the Evenwedge team commenced construction on a luxury home in the up-and-coming Melbourne suburb of Caroline Springs. The land size was relatively small (only 560sqm), but this was not surprising looking at neighbouring blocks. The owners wanted to maximise their usage of the block and wanted at least some form of backyard that they could use for entertaining when the weather was fine.
In the end, Evenwedge Homes designed and constructed a two-storey home, which provided the owners with the indoor space they wanted whilst retaining a small backyard. The front of the house is framed by a garage on one side and a gate into the backyard on the other, whilst there is very little front yard to speak of. This does, however, ensure that there will be very little maintenance. The front door is quite shaded and a balcony overlooks the yard.
Inside, this luxury home at Caroline Springs boasts an open plan kitchen, dining and lounge room with a small study nook at the end of a short hallway. The kitchen itself is quite large with a centre island bench that houses a double sink. The laundry is accessible via a side door off the kitchen and also provides additional storage. The staircase to access the upstairs is right off the kitchen and features light timber treads with a glass balustrade.
Outside, there are two entertaining areas – one directly off the lounge room and the other directly off the dining space. Both alfresco areas offer gated access to the luxurious swimming pool that takes up most of the backyard. There is a natural stone cladded waterfall (framed on either side by garden beds) that feeds directly into the pool, and downlights complete the look.
