Matthews & Matthews, P.C., recently announced the addition of family law attorney Ms. Jennifer Lewis to its firm. In keeping with tradition at Matthews & Matthews, Ms. Lewis brings a wealth of family law knowledge and experience with her as a seasoned Denver family attorney.

Over Two Decades of Experience

Licensed in 1988, Ms. Lewis has practiced law at the federal and state levels in Colorado, Kansas and Missouri. Prior to obtaining her license, Ms. Lewis worked as a law clerk for general practitioner John Ivan and as a research assistant to Professor Barbara Gleasner at the University of Missouri. She practiced law in the Kansas City area for more than two decades but moved to Colorado in 2007 after going through a divorce herself.

Ms. Lewis’ current focus is on family law, but she’s experienced in many legal areas, including criminal law, estate planning, zoning and land use planning, medical malpractice, personal injury and general civil litigation. As some of these areas intertwine, Ms. Lewis’ varied knowledge set allows her to serve her Colorado family law firm clients on multiple levels.

An eloquent communicator, Ms. Lewis is skilled at the art of legal writing, having written appellate briefs for the Court of Appeals of Colorado, Missouri and Kansas and state court briefs and motions. She’s also a formidable Denver family attorney negotiator who is comfortable handling dispute resolution procedures, such as settlement conferences, to help clients avoid prolonged contested hearings.

Currently, Ms. Lewis belongs to the Colorado and Missouri state bar associations and is admitted to practice in U.S. District Court for the Districts of Kansas and Colorado. When she’s not working for her clients, Ms. Lewis enjoys professional sports events, tennis, skiing, reading, hiking and spending time with family, friends and her two pet dogs.
