Our Mission:

Chelsea Film Festival is a nonprofit cultural organization. CFF is an international film festival that enlightens the work of emerging filmmakers, producers, and actors. It offers a wide range of films, such as shorts, documentaries, and feature-length pieces. It empowers the work of risk-taking storytellers and remains committed to its mission to discover and develop independent artists and audiences around the world.

The Chelsea Film Institute is a registered 501(c)(3) organization that helps expose the underprivileged youth in Chelsea, NYC to the arts. According to U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, “The arts can help students become tenacious, team-oriented problem-solvers who are confident and able to think creatively. These qualities can be especially important in improving learning among students from economically disadvantaged circumstances.”

Throughout the year, CFI offers free Arts classes to these economically disadvantaged children. The classes allow these kids to spend their time productively, cultivate their love for the arts, and socialize with children of other cultures. There are numerous benefits to extracurricular arts classes: there is a correlation between regular participation in arts classes and academic achievement; and studies show that Arts based classes have a measurable impact on lowering the delinquency and truancy rates.
