Okanjo Debuts Powerful Cloud Commerce Solutions

Milwaukee (I-Newswire) December 20, 2013 - Okanjo today unveiled a new website, Okanjo.com, and a suite of uniquely interconnected eCommerce tools. With beginnings as an online shopping marketplace where businesses and consumers met to buy, sell and give to charity, Okanjo packaged its platform for use by multiple audiences including online publishers, retailers and nonprofits.

"This is a huge milestone for us. Our platform has always been about empowering businesses and nonprofits to connect with their audiences through a unique online shopping experience. This launch marks the realization of that vision," said Brendon Thomas, president of Okanjo. Thomas was promoted from chief product officer to president on Monday with the successful exit from Okanjo's beta phase.

Okanjo co-founders, Michael Drescher and Jeff Rowe, are equally excited. "I see a significant future for Okanjo," stated Drescher on Thursday. "We're forming strong partnerships both locally and nationally. This is an unprecedented stage of growth for Okanjo."

In addition to revealing its evolved business strategy, Okanjo also announced a partnership with OnMilwaukee, a digital media company and publisher of OnMilwaukee.com, a local online magazine. The companies together created OnMilwaukee's Shop Local Marketplace, an online shopping destination that features local businesses, Milwaukee gear and other unique items.

"Today's local marketplace begins online," said Jeff Sherman, president and co-founder of OnMilwaukee. "Passionate readers like the ones we have at OnMilwaukee.com are looking for additional ways to connect to their community. By integrating this local marketplace, we now have a way to replace classifieds with buying, selling and giving." Local businesses and online retailers can read more about selling on OnMilwaukee here.

The Shop Local marketplace is already off to a strong start - OnMilwaukee and Colectivo started auctioning the letters from retired Alterra signs on Monday. All proceeds from the auctions will be donated to the Hunger Task Force. The auctions end on Monday, December 23.
