Britannia Safety and Training, a construction training Norwich based company , has become the first independent training centre in East Anglia to receive accredited recognition for the Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme.

Britannia Safety and Training, a construction training Norwich based company , has become the first independent training centre in East Anglia to receive accredited recognition for the Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme.

The Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme (CISRS) has been the industry recognised scaffold training scheme for over 30 years. It is the preferred scaffolding qualification of all the major organisations including CSCS, NASC, HSE, UKCG, T&G, UCATT and the largest scaffold systems manufacturers.

Whilst many construction companies are skilled at the erection of scaffolding on site, health and safety requirements require an independent assessment of any complex scaffolding build to justify any insurance claim through the use of the equipment.

The main reason why some scaffolds are erected unsafely is due to lack of training. Contractors need to recognise the risk associated with poorly erected systems and the CISRS scheme will prevent non-skilled scaffolders erecting dangerous scaffolds. Any competent business in the construction industry will identify the benefits of an individual achieving the accreditation.

The two day course will equip the attendee with significant knowledge and understanding of the erection and maintenance of steel erection, different techniques to cover all situations and the importance of surveying and planning before getting started - all essential to cover all health and safety aspects of the job in hand.

Colin Wright, Managing Director of Britannia Training. "The CISRS inspection is a necessity to cover insurance requirements and should be seen as a safe and second opinion, ensuring the safety of the user on a building site. We are pleased and proud to offer, through our investment in continuous development of Britannia services, our latest CISRS accreditation which gives anyone needing the service the option of a local provider, fully accreditated and with purpose built training facilities at the training centre."

This is the second recent major achievement for Britannia Training in 2013, having recently become one of only a few training providers in the UK qualified to assess other trainers who deliver courses for operators working with large machinery and at height or in challenging environments. The programmes PAL and PAL+, are designed to ensure operators of machinery are skills in handling complex machinery in challenging spaces, including confined space training.

There is a need to ensure those that are training the operators are competent in recognising the health and safety risks involved in such work and they are competent in delivering accredited training within the appropriate industry. This is a major move forward for the Britannia team being one of only a few training providers accredited to provide such a service across the UK.

Courses are held at the Britannia's head office at Wymondham Business Park for individuals or as groups. For more information contact Emily on 01953 606100 or 0800 014 9016 or visit www.britanniaits.com
