New Technology Sees Sailors Go Green

Help is at hand for boat owners who want to go green. Sailors are turning to ultrasonic anti fouling to stop algae clinging onto their vessels.

Southend-On-Sea (I-Newswire) December 11, 2012 - Help is at hand for boat owners who want to go green.

Sailors are turning to ultrasonic anti fouling to stop algae clinging onto the machine which in turn allows barnacles to build up on the boat. The system works by sending complex ultrasonic vibrations.

The majority of boat owners paint and maintain their vessels every winter and class it as part of their annual maintenance.

However, anti fouling paints which are normally used can be toxic which is why the new technology, ultrasonic anti fouling is so popular.

There are many things boaters can do to limit and help prevent damage to the environment which evidence suggests can be caused by antifouling paint. Re-painting and maintenance is one of the most common jobs carried out.

However, the most cost effective thing that they could is to invest in ultrasonic antifouling. The latest technology is also safe for humans, animals and fish.

Protecting the hull is just the start and whilst vibrations can travel into rudder, legs & prop they may need their own transducer heads to ensure they are adequately protected.

However, it is important to protect your boat's hull from a build up of algae. A hull clear of growth will allow you to maintain your maximum speed and enjoy the performance of the hull design.

If barnacles are allowed to accumulate on a ship's hull, the ship will travel slower in the water, or it will have to burn more fuel to keep up its speed. So all in all, not good news for boat owners.

About Ultrasonic Works

As experienced Engineers & Marine Biologists with deep commercial engineering knowledge & under stan   More..ding of algae and crustaceans, we have developed a range of commercial / industrial water treatment systems. As sailors we have had the frustration & expense of anti-fouling our boats for many years as well. We wanted a cleaner, simpler more cost effective solution. Based on our industrial water treatment systems, we have created the next generation of Ultrasonic Anti-Fouling. The products are designed & manufactured in the UK by Ultrasonic Works.Less..
