Menopause Help From New Book Offers Alternatives to Potentially Harmful Hormone Replacement Therapy

With large numbers of women considering hormone replacement therapy, a new book offers facts and solutions for natural relief from menopause.

With about 6,000 American women reaching menopause every day, and tens of thousands worldwide, hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is being considered by more to eliminate or relieve menopausal symptoms. But there may be more natural and less potentially harmful methods according to Lisa J. Johnson, author of the new book "Menopause Help: Facts You Should Know About The Change And How To Make The Most Of It".

"Contrary to a lot of the traditional thinking, menopause is NOT a disease, an illness or a disorder. Rather, it's a normal, natural process that often brings about a number of physical, mental and emotional changes. Numerous treatment options are available to help you deal with these symptoms, so you should never feel as though you need to simply 'grin and bear it.' And we've found more than enough options that don't require powerful and potentially harmful drugs," Johnson said.

The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists reports that the average menopause age is 51 and that one of the symptoms, hot flashes, affect 75 percent of women during perimenopause, the period before menopause, which lasts for about four years.

Johnson's book includes solutions for dealing with the physical, mental and emotional effects of menopause. One section, appropriately titled, "Alternative Medicine for Menopause: Separating the Helpful From the Hype," offers proven remedies that have kept millions from the known risks of HRT.

"Menopause Help: Facts You Should Know About The Change And How To Make The Most Of It" is the latest Amazon Kindle release from health and wellness publisher Millwood Media.
