Mark Haley of Smart City Networks to Speak at IAEE Conference

Mark Haley, president of Smart City Networks, will be a featured speaker on two panels at "Expo! Expo! 2012," the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) Annual Meeting & Exhibition.

Mark Haley, president of Smart City Networks, the largest provider of event technology in the convention and event industry, will be a featured speaker on two panels at "Expo! Expo! 2012," the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) Annual Meeting & Exhibition in Orlando, Fla., from Dec. 4 - 6.

Haley, a 30-year veteran of the meetings and conventions industry, will be a member of a panel discussing the technology trends to watch in the trade show industry and serve on a second panel focusing on the challenges of providing Wi-Fi and greater bandwidth in convention facilities.

Both education sessions will be held on Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Orange County Convention Center. The morning session from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. is entitled "Wi-Fi and Mobile Bandwidth Challenges - Why Is It Not Just Free?" This session will review the IAEE white paper, and Haley will discuss challenges that Smart City Networks is seeing in the convention industry, including the increasing need to continually upgrade and maintain infrastructure, as well as some solutions that the technology provider has developed, such as tiered Wi-Fi offerings, to offer both a free, basic Wi-Fi service as well as a faster service with greater bandwidth for an additional fee.

The afternoon session from 2 to 3 p.m. will showcase "Trade Show Tech Trends to Watch." Haley plans to highlight new tech trends being seen at convention facilities, including the growing use of digital signage for interactive engagement with attendees and the installation of Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), which improve connectivity and work in tandem with a venue's Wi-Fi network.

Expo! Expo! 2012, IAEE's Annual Meeting & Exhibition offers interactive networking and experiential education opportunities while highlighting the latest technologies in face-to-face events.
