Love of Classic Motorcycle Fuels Growth of Fan Forum

The popularity – or even fervor – for the granddaddy of all motorcycles is fueling the growth of a forum dedicated solely to Harley Davison Motorcycle enthusiasts.

Glendale, Ariz. (I-Newswire) November 29, 2011 - Although not affiliated with the all-American Harley, HDTalking.com, launched in 2006 as a hobby site, has caught on mightily among those who consider owning one of the bikes “a way of life,” according to one of the forum’s founding members, who simply goes by the handle of “Glider.”

Harley Lovers Helping Harley Lovers

Like proud fathers, Glider and other founding members have watched HDTalking.com grow from a few faithful Harley owners to having nearly 1,000 members interact on the forum one day last week.

“We were growing so fast lately -- our old server couldn’t handle visitor hits anymore, Speed, the administrator explains. “That’s why we decided to move and upgrade to our new server – to enhance performance and the overall experience of our members.”

Now that the mitigation to the bigger and better server is complete, an unlimited number of forum members can share the benefits of the community glitch free. Plus, the appearance and navigation of the re-launched forum is more appealing and practical.

Glider and the other foundering members attribute the fast growth of the forum to the fact that many experienced Harley owners, who are already members, are more than willing to share their time and experiences in helping newer owners with their Harley questions and problems.

Forum with Family Atmosphere

Contrary to some of the misconceptions and negative stereotypes surrounding motorcycles, HDTalking.com attracts new members not just because of its solid reputation -- but also because of its good manners, according to another founding member, Larry the Tank.

“The forum probably has a major draw for most first -time visitors due to the extremely well organized self-help tips that Glider has put together, he says.

But what keeps them coming back, Larry says, is the forum’s commitment to making sure everyone feels comfortable. This is accomplished in part by not allowing negative language, flaming, adult pictures -- or other content that is questionable,

Flow of Accurate Information

Glider agrees and says that Harley motorcycle enthusiasts have so much in common it makes little sense to allow a handful to spoil the camaraderie by fomenting an atmosphere of negativity.

“Our forum is different from other forums in many aspects in that we cater to a more mature crowd, Glider says.

He adds that active members and moderators make it their business to see that no member’s posted questions go unanswered. More importantly, senior members remove or correct any inaccurate replies, so there isn't any incorrect information posted.

“It is important that the proper techniques or repair procedures are given to insure a proper fix,” Glider says.
