Local Nonprofit Celebrates New Name, Expanded Programming
Children Without Borders to Become Children's Well-Being Foundation. The new name of the organization reflects the organization's evolution since its inception in 2007.
Online, February 2, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Children Without Borders, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing medical care to children, will be celebrating its new name and expanded programs tonight at a Hingham fundraising event to benefit the charity. The new name of the organization, Children's Well-Being Foundation, reflects the organization's evolution since its inception in 2007. The name change is also the result of a trademark dispute with another nonprofit organization.
Over the past several years, Children Without Borders focused its efforts on expanding programming to better serve the needs of its clients. The additional programming includes psychiatric, ophthalmology and dental care as well as health education, family services and child care, which complement the pediatric preventative care already offered in Children Without Borders' foundational clinics. The organization opened a third clinic, the Casa Club, in San Jose with the help of the United States Department of State and Central American Regional Security Initiative to stem the escalation of drug trafficking.
"As a result of these expansions and our continued efforts to help low-income and homeless families in Costa Rica, we felt it was time to evolve our brand to more accurately reflect the all encompassing services and programs we now offer," said Jennifer Tegan, executive director of Children Without Borders. "Our new name and brand, Children's Well-Being Foundation, captures the range of benefits and programs we offer our clients who rely on us to stay healthy and escape poverty. This is a step forward, and we are celebrating this milestone and achievement at a fundraising party tonight in Hingham."
Local supporters of Children Without Borders are hosting a Winter Soiree at the Black Rock Country Club in Hingham, Mass., starting at 7:30 p.m. where the new name and brand of the charity will be celebrated. All proceeds from this event will help the charity continue its programming and support its mission of helping those in need. Tickets for the benefit can be purchased online at www.cwbfoundation.org. The ticket price includes food, drinks and live entertainment as well as the opportunity to participate in a raffle. Children Without Borders staff will be live tweeting during the event with updates on happenings and sightings via the organization's handle, @cwbfoundation, and hashtag #CWBWinterSoiree.
