Jacadis, an award winning information security solutions and services provider, announced today a new service designed to enable businesses to securely deploy and manage mobile devices in the workplace: Facilitated Mobile Security Workshop. The service was designed as a response to the need of many customers challenged with securely granting network access to both corporate and employee-owned smartphones and tablets.

"Mobile computing creates a huge foundation for workforce efficiency and effectiveness as well an interesting toolbox for innovation," says Jacadis President and CEO Doug Davidson. "It creates an increased attack surface as well." Jacadis found that haphazard mobile technology deployments have created gaps in the controls designed to protect the business from unplanned interruptions and potential security breaches. The intent of the Facilitated Mobile Security Workshop is to help organizations close those gaps, providing technical support staff with the knowledge they need to identify and address the risks associated with mobile computing.

One unique aspect of the Jacadis offering is the hands-on approach at the core of the workshop. Participants are encouraged to secure their own devices during the workshop in order to understand both the process and the user impact of the controls. Jacadis also provides and hands-on demonstration of a Mobile Device Management solution.

"We designed the workshop to cover the fundamentals, from performing a targeted risk assessment to deploying a Mobile Device Management solution," says Jacadis CTO and Principal Security Consultant Jerod Brennen, the facilitator of the Facilitated Mobile Security Workshop. "Participants will walk out of the workshop equipped with the knowledge they need to enable their organization to use mobile technology securely."
Organizations often grant mobile devices access to the network without a detailed understanding of the costs and risks associated with the use of this technology. Organizations bound by compliance regulations such as the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) are often exposed compliance risks as well.

"We're adamant proponents of security as an enabler," continues Brennen, "We want our clients to be successful, and we believe that a secure technology foundation is an essential component of that success."
