International Travel Health Notices - AAUG Insurance Company

Traveling for business, pleasure, or both in the near future? Are you ready for any health issues where you're about to go?

Traveling for business, pleasure, or both in the near future? Are you ready for any health issues where you're about to go? Sure, you know the potential health hazards of traveling within your own country. If it's winter, influenza is usually at the top of the list, as well as your common cold. But what about if you're traveling abroad? Do you know what to be on the lookout for, say, in China?

Know Before You Go
At AAUG Insurance, we want you to be prepared when you travel out of the country for any amount of time. At home, you're used to the common ailments associated with your environment. And chances are good that you have the correct immunizations to protect you and your family from anything that may be present. But when traveling to a foreign land, many precautions are necessary to avoid becoming seriously sick.

That's why the AAUG Insurance Company recommends that you do your research before traveling. There are great websites that are constantly updated with new alerts to potentially harmful health issues in every country. The most reliable is probably the Centers for Disease Control website http://www.cdc.gov/travel.

There, you'll find current notices, ranked from Alert Level 1 to Alert Level 3, that tell you of any outbreaks or events that could be a risk to your health. Anything from disease outbreaks and special events to natural disasters or other conditions are listed for easy viewing. For instance, as of November 15, 2013, there's a Rubella alert for Japan and Poland. Note that they change all the time, so you'll want to check periodically should you not be traveling for a while.

The Flu Season is Here
December is upon us and here in North America, that means the flu season is about to run rampant. Have you had your flu shot yet? Well, whether you believe in getting the flu shot or not, it's important to recognize that this is the time of year where the "bug" goes around. You've probably already seen it at your office or out on the town. People are spreading it around. AAUG wants to remind you to protect yourself as best as possible during the season. That means washing your hands more often, being cautious of what you touch, and basically just running away from people who are contagious. (We are kidding...sort of.)

International Health Insurance and AAUG Insurance Company LLC
AAUG Insurance would also like to take this time to remind you that we offer high-quality international health insurance and short-term international travel insurance. If you're planning a trip to another country, make sure that you are covered. If you live in the United States, it's important to remember that U.S. medical insurance isn't generally accepted outside the country. So before you go anywhere this season, or any season, plan ahead, do the research, and most of all, stay healthy!
