#GivingTuesday: Support the Nation's Animal Shelters
This #GivingTuesday, give back by being a part of the Nation's First National Animal Shelter Drive.
Online, November 20, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Animal shelters are a special place. They take in the sick, the hungry and the emotionally-pained animals without question. With a great deal of patience, the volunteers teach each pet to love and trust again so they might successfully join a family, and in turn, be loved and trusted for the rest of their lives.
Our pets are part of our families. They bring us joy and happiness, and find simple ways to comfort us when we're tired or hurt. Some are part of our lives for long period's of times, others just a short space of time—but all leave an indelible mark.
This #GivingTuesday, YouGiveGoods believes it's time to give back to the 5,000 shelters located in the United States by hosting the first national campaign to give goods to our shelters. Getting the goods needed to feed and clean the animals in their care is no small worry for every shelter. It is estimated that on any given day there are 8 million pets currently located in shelters. Even if we estimate that each animal only needed a cup of food a day—that's a lot of food required just to stay in business.
