FORE School of Management in association with PHD Chamber- will be hosting the International Conference on Business Sustainability between 28th and 30th of November 2012, in New Delhi. The conference, which will be debating the challenges and issues before business houses, in moving on from a few sustainability initiatives to more sustainable business model, has already seen a substantial number of registrants from India as well as abroad.

It is anticipated that the conference will be a veritable melting pot of distinguished international experts on the subject and facilitate interdisciplinary communication between scientists, engineers, economists, policymakers and professionals working in ecological systems and sustainable development, globally. Apart from the Corporate and Academia, the registrants so far comprise Researchers, Environmentalists, Legal Experts, and NGO's. The advisory board that has identified the conference track to create a platform to bring eminent personalities from diverse areas under the same umbrella includes Dr. Biswanath Bhattacharya, senior Advisor, ADB; Dr. Kirk Davidson, The Morrison Professor of International Studies, Mount St. Mary's University; Dr. Rajat Panwar, Chapple Chairof Business and Social Responsibility, Northland College; Ms. Susmita Shekhar, Secretary General,PHDCCI, and DR. J K Das, Director, FORE School of Management.

"Increasingly, global CEOs and entrepreneurs alike are elevating the role of sustainability as a central business strategy," elaborates Professor Subhasis Bera from the FORE School of Management .

"Sustainability-inspired campaigns and strategies, however, are only as credible as the tangible initiatives and top-level commitments that underpin them. Moreover, putting a value on sustainability initiatives can pose a systematic and universal challenge especially where the benefits are difficult to quantify. We are organising International Conference to provide platform to various stakeholders for generation of ideas and presentation of research outcome that would help us in changing the overall trajectory of traditional development pattern and move towards a path of sustainable development."

The unprecedented economic growth around the world over the last few decades has not only ensured growing environmental pollution but also increased the economic disparity across population. Even today, half of the world's population owns less than 1 per cent of the global wealth. Conditions across the globe are getting worse, and thus, posing a major threat to global prosperity, security, and stability.

Since the traditional development model in this regard has lost its relevance in its two major fronts- eradicating poverty and preventing a deterioration of the global natural environment, this International Conference on Business Sustainability being held in New Delhi is being looked upon as a ray of hope.

Eminent scholars have forwarded abstracts to this effect, online, across the globe at the conference site www.fsm.ac.in/conference . Refereed papers accepted for the conference and presented, will be published in an edited book by the International Publisher Bloomsbury. Best Paper will be awarded at the close of this international conference being hosted by the FORE School of Management.
