Family Center Psychologist Appointed as Secretary of Maryland Psychological Association
The Family Center congratulates Dr. Alison Dunton as she transitions from her current role as The Maryland Psychological Association's (MPA) Chair of the Early Career Psychologists Committee to the association's officer position of Secretary.
Online, July 11, 2013 (Newswire.com) - The Family Center congratulates Dr. Alison Dunton as she transitions from her current role as The Maryland Psychological Association's (MPA) Chair of the Early Career Psychologists Committee to the association's officer position of Secretary.
Affiliated with the American Psychological Association (APA), the MPA is a statewide professional association for psychologists in Maryland. The MPA hopes to advance the science and practice of psychology to promote human welfare.
Dr. Dunton is a licensed psychologist who specializes in the treatment of emotional and behavioral disorders, including ADHD, depression, anxiety, and autism spectrum disorders. She also provides parent management training, play therapy, and family therapy to help children and adolescents who struggle with grief and loss.
Dr. Dunton received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University in Washington, D.C. Along with treating children, adolescents, and young adults at The Family Center, she conducts live parent coaching, ADHD assessments, psycho-educational testing, and social/emotional evaluations.
Dr. Dunton will begin her role as Secretary of the MPA in September. She will also become a member of the MPA's Executive Committee and remain a voting member on the Board of Directors.
