Evan Guthrie Law Firm Speaks At River Oaks Middle School In North Charleston, SC

River Oaks is part of the Dorchester County District Two School system and is located in North Charleston, SC. Mr. Guthrie spoke to two different classes of eighth graders about the his career and experiences as a lawyer. Attorney Guthrie spoke about many aspects of the legal profession such as what steps one has to take to become a lawyer, what college and law school are really like, what a typical day entails in a law career, the best and not so best parts about the profession, and many interesting stories about his experiences practicing law in the Charleston SC area. The students had many questions that ranged from how long one has to stay in school to become a lawyer, is all of that school worth it, how much does an attorney typically get paid, what happens if there is a client you do not want to represent, and what does a lawyer do after hours. The students in both classes that Mr. Guthrie participated in the speech and discussion for the full class period and were continuing to ask question even as the bell rang for them to move to their next class.

Attorney Evan Guthrie was joined in his visit to River Oaks by his law clerk, Kimaya Brown, then a senior at Charleston Southern University. Kimaya answered questions about being in college and preparing for a professional career. This was Mr. Guthrie's first visit to River Oaks after visiting several high schools in Dorchester District Two. Attorney Guthrie was happy to be able to come in to the school and lead a couple of classes and inspire students to consider a career in the legal profession.
