Will PMAF Save Us from Future Intelligence Failures?

Vienna, VA, April 7, 2011 - "Intelligence Failures." Even the very words strike fear in the heart of anyone who watches the nightly news broadcasts. What happened? Can we recover? And what will prevent a recurring event?
PMAF (Pedigree Management Assessment Framework), the industry leading pedigree management technology solution, developed in collaboration between ATC-NY and RAE (the world's leading vendor of pedigree management solutions) is the only solution that allows user to have a scalable solution to the difficult pedigree problem. Pedigree information provides meta-data that describes the information source associated with data and allows tracking the flow, handling, modification and quality of intelligence data.
Use of PMAF is leading new technology researchers and product managers to have hope of creating high quality attributed intelligence data.
ATC-NY (the technology partner of RAE) has just been issued US Patent #7,908,281 B2 that solidifies PMAF's position as the world's only practical and available data pedigree solution.
RAE's CEO Pamela Goodrich says "The issuance of the PMAF Patent recognizes the pedigree technology leadership provided by RAE, ATC-NY and our solutions partners.
Ken Thurber, CTO of RAE, says today's intelligence agency CIO leaders need to recognize the tides of technological change and begin the roll out of this advanced COTS (Commercial Off the Shelf) technology that is available now.

The Honorable Thomas M. Davis -former Virginia Congressman & Chairman of the House Government reform Committee says "I am proud of the contribution of a Northern Virginia company in the fight to protect the liberties of the American people and urge all agencies needing control of the pedigree of sources in their information to embrace the advance PMAF product."

"Intelligence agencies in this country must adopt the most advanced technologies," says Davis. "We need to grab onto our best technologies and get them implemented. One such leading technology is the extensive pedigree capabilities provide by PMAF - the first commercially available pedigree solution."

According to Thurber, before PMAF, commercial pedigree solutions have not been available. "That has changed due to PMAF," he says. "A major quality enhancement is available to intelligence agencies by having, exploiting, and developing systems that contain the best and most advanced pedigree technologies. The idea that Americans need to be surprised by another intelligence failure due to information corruption is simply unnecessary. PMAF is here today"

PMAF provides the first scalable solution to the pedigree problem by separating the pedigree and information into two parts that can be processed separately. This allows the user community to see the details of information pedigree as it is enhanced based upon the chain of custody and further allows for measures of quality to be developed to create confidence in the intelligence validity of the results.

Goodrich says the key is for the government to embrace COTS solutions for difficult problems such as information pedigree and not to be trapped into vendor specific custom developments that lock agencies into large high risk development programs.

Davis continues, "The PMAF ideas can be extended to provide pedigree for real time data tagging from sensors and to information collected by smart phones as well as from processed data. The government needs to lead in the space for pedigree information solutions and the intelligence agencies should be in the forefront of consideration of such solutions."

Thurber says large scale installation and roll out of pedigree technology are needed to provide analysts the ability to understand where the information they are relying upon came from and what its real quality is. "If we don't boldly embrace information pedigree, we will embrace the inevitable next intelligence failure."
