Country Meets The Caribbean For The 19th Annual Key West Songwriters' Festival

Key West has long had a musical history that had ties to the world of country music. This year, that connection is celebrated in style as dozens of Nashville's hottest song writers converge for five days of fun.

Ever since a certain margarita swilling singer/songwriter quit his job in Nashville, flew to Miami and hitched a ride to Key West with a couple of Texas music legends, the good times have flowed back and forth between those two good time towns. Nearly twenty years ago, an owner of one of the most popular Key West restaurants decided to do something about that connection. His efforts quickly bore fruit and now Key West is proud to present the 19th Annual Key West Songwriters Festival. This event has quickly become the one of the most popular weeks of the year, often attracting people who usually only visit once a year to come back for a second vacation.

The best thing about the festival, besides all of the great music, is that the events are staged all over the island. That way, people who are coming for the first time to check out some of their favorite country singers and songwriters will be immersed in all of the Key West activities that have made it one of the most popular vacation destinations in the world year after year.

"Part of the reason that we are able to get over one hundred performers is because they don't just look at coming to Key West as another gig," said original event organizer Charlie Bauer. "They know that they are going to find state-of-the-art performance spaces, both indoors and out, but just as importantly, they also know that they are going to find one of the best parties in the country."

That can definitely be proven by taking one quick look at the line-up. Most of the musicians only schedule two or three shows while they are in town even though the festival is five days long. With the majority of those appearances just about an hour long, it gives them time to see some of their favorite musicians and writers, spend time with their fans, and check out the great Key West attractions and night life that they have learned to love from visits in the past.

The secret is out. After nineteen years, this has become the fastest growing and one of the most popular special events that Key West hosts. Get your reservations now for the hottest Nashville party in the sunniest part of the United States. Don't miss the opportunity to rediscover some of your favorite songwriters while discovering Key West Florida, America's Caribbean island.
