Congressman Doc Hastings Visits Port of Quincy Intermodal Terminal and The New Cold Train

(I-Newswire) August 20, 2010 - Quincy, Wash. -- On August 18, 2010, Congressman Doc Hastings visited the Port of Quincy's state-of-the-art intermodal terminal and rail cargo handling facility on the BNSF mainline. Congressman Hastings was briefed about the new Cold Train service (from the Port of Quincy Intermodal Terminal to Chicago) by Chris Mnichowski of Rail Logistics/Cold Train, Port of Quincy Commissioner Patric Connelly and Port of Quincy Commissioner Brian Kuest.

In addition, Congressman Hastings was briefed about how the new Cold Train refrigerated intermodal container rail and distribution service (between Quincy, WA and Chicago, IL) is quickly growing in popularity with produce shippers in the Washington state.

The expedited, door-to-door Pacific Northwest-Chicagoland Express “Cold Train” Intermodal Service (http://www.rrlx.com/www.icoldtrain.com/iColdTrain/Home.html) was recently launched in April of 2010 (http://refrigeratedtrans.com/carriers-shippers/cold_train_intermodal_service_begins_0408/)by Rail Logistics in partnership with the Port of Quincy Intermodal Terminal (www.portofquincyintermodal.com) and covers 2,000+ miles in only three days.

Also during Doc Hastings visit, there was discussion about the infrastructure of Port of Quincy Intermodal Terminal, which includes over 10,000 feet of track and a new container maintenance and cleaning facility, with over 1 million square feet of warehousing in close proximity to provide shippers and manufacturers with distribution, cross-dock and storage capacity in and out of the Washington State.
