Colonial-Style Cottages Add Elegance and Charm to Historic Abingdon, Virginia

Online, December 4, 2013 (Newswire.com) - David and Jill Dalton designed and built Creeper's End Lodging two years ago and celebrate their success. Creeper's End Lodging, two luxurious cottages at the end of the Creeper Trail in Abingdon, Virginia, were built as an investment and a means to stay close to the community in which Jill grew up. But what started out as an investment grew into a labor of love. David and Jill were very hands-on in the creation of the cottages - from directly supervising the builders to the meticulous decoration of each room.

Jill has a long line of family history in Abingdon. Jill's mother, Lois Hagy Humphreys was the first female mayor of Abingdon for 10 years, and on the Town Council for an additional 20 years, for a total of 30 years of service. Jill's brother, Rick Humphreys was at one time the Postmaster of Castlewood, and is now a town council member and owner of A Taylor's Lodging. It is apparent that the family has strong ties to the community. Five generations of Hagys have lived in the Abingdon community. Their family home, The Fairview Historic Homestead, circa 1805, consists of a log house and working farm and is a landmark for visitors to tour.

When Jill married David Dalton in 1990, she moved away from her beloved town. When they decided to build the cottages, it was important for them to be in Abingdon, and in the perfect location within walking distance of Historic downtown, the Barter Theater, and the Creeper Trail.

Two years ago, Creeper's End Lodging opened and people started visiting. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Perfect for group gatherings, romantic couples retreats, or corporate housing, hundreds of people have lodged at the conveniently-located, beautiful Creeper's End Lodging.
