CHILDREN'S Day Turns Into An Exciting Extravaganza At Usha Martin Academy Jamshedpur

The Brain Hunt Quiz - as the event was aptly titled - was a brainchild of Mr. Pankaj Soni, Mr. Subhamoy Hazra and Mr. Yash Raj, and was conducted with great energy on the 16th November 2012. Conducted by Dr. Samir Kumar, Ms. Rani Sushma, and Mr. Dibyendu Karfa of UMA Jamshedpur the occasion sawa huge turnout of about 200 UMA students. The competition per se involvedteamwork, group dynamics and intra-team coordination.
"The idea was to give a reality check to the students of UMA in a competitive yet fun environment," said Ms. Rani Sushma. "In more ways than one, such events actually help students take a look at themselves and see how much headway they've made after reaching Usha Martin Academy , in terms of presentation skills, motivation levels and coordination."
On the basis of a preliminary round the semi-finalists were shortlisted. The semifinals saw a nerve-racking battle between six groups of 4 students each. At the end of the semi-final round, two groups stood heads-and-shoulders above the rest. The grand finale saw a fight to the finish between these two groups. Group One constituted Ankit Kumar and Saket Singh from the MBA batch of UMA Jamshedpur, and Sanjay Kr. Singh and Trishita Duttafrom the BBA batch. Group Two was represented byAbhishek Khirwal and Polson Anthony from the BCA section, Neha Zeb (MCA) and Vidya M. Doshi (BBA).
The competition went down to the wire, with Group One taking the ultimate honours in the last round.
"It was great!" said Trishita Dutta of the winning team. "More than winning it was the learning that was worth it. We learned the practical aspects of business - and all while having fun - which certainly has a greater recall value."
While appreciating the entire student-faculty effort to make the Children's Day such a thumping success Mr. Suparswa Chakraborty, Dean, UMA , Jamshedpur, observed that more of such programmes will be held from time to time so that the students of UMA Jamshedpur can be more aware about current affairs and find motivation within themselves to be performers and leaders.
