Scope e-Knowledge Center (Scope), a leading provider of knowledge services and a Quatrro Global Services company, is pleased to announce Brill, the international publishing house head-quartered in Leiden, The Netherlands, has selected Scope to support its goal of increasing the discoverability of books chapters on its Brill Online Books and Journals platform.

Brill publishes over 700 books and 200 journals a year. Its publications focus on Humanities and Social Sciences, International Law and Biology. Brill intends to create chapter-level keyword and abstract metadata for its nearly 4,000 book backlist and for new books it publishes. Scope will employ its proprietary content abstraction and metadata enrichment platform ConSCIseā„¢ to create this metadata. ConSCIse uses a unique blend of proprietary automation and subject matter expert curation to ensure high-quality descriptive metadata is created. This unique model has enabled Scope to deliver more than five million abstracts of patents, book chapters, technical articles, standards and other documents for a number of clients.

Sam Bruinsma, VP Business Development, Brill commented, "We need high-quality abstracts and keywords for each book at the chapter level to meet our business objective of enhancing the discoverability of our book chapters and help end-users with better navigation. We chose Scope based on its previous experience in creating book chapter metadata, pilot deliverables and overall consultative approach."

Commenting on this partnership, Tram Venkatraman, President of Scope, said, "We are really happy to be associated with a publisher with the international reputation of Brill and to support its objective of improved discoverability of books at the chapter level. Scope will ensure the necessary process velocity, productivity and scalability thanks to our technology platforms and process efficiency-oriented approaches."

M. A. Eswaran, Scope's Chief Operating Officer, commented, "Scope is seeing a trend among publishers and other information providers towards offering content in more granular 'bits. Scope has developed its ConSCIse platform to create descriptive metadata to support enhanced discoverability of book chapters and other more granular content types. We look forward to working with Brill in this assignment."
