Virginia Eye Institute (VEI), one of Virginia's oldest, largest and best-known comprehensive eye care organizations, announced that Bradley P. Smith, MBA, FACHE, FHFMA, CMPE, has joined Virginia Eye Institute as Chief Executive Officer. He has more than 30 years of senior healthcare executive leadership experience.

Mr. Smith joins Virginia Eye Institute from New Horizons Healthcare Consultancy (NHHC), Vermilion, OH, where he served as Principal. NHHC specializes in designing and implementing physician integration and alignment strategies. Previously he served as Chief Executive Officer, Northern Ohio Medical Specialists; Chief Executive Officer, North Central CareNet, Ltd.; Corporate Vice President Practice Management/ Managed Care Contracting/ EMH Health and Fitness Center Operations, EMH Regional Healthcare System; and as President and Chief Executive Officer, EMH Amherst Hospital.

Mr. Smith graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY, with a Master of Business Administration degree and from Heidelberg College, Tiffin, OH, with a Bachelor of Science degree. He is a Board Certified Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a Board Certified Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and is also Board Certified by the American College of Medical Practice Executives. He received the 2009 American College of Healthcare Executives Service Award and was also named by the House of Representatives of the 128th assembly of Ohio as one of Ohio's finest citizens for having combined civic concern with the utmost professionalism to become a dynamic leader.

Mr. Smith is an active volunteer, serving on numerous boards of directors, including the American Cancer Society, Northeastern Ohio; the EHOVE Joint Vocational School; numerous Chambers of Commerce and Rotary Clubs; the Arthritis Foundation of Northern Ohio; and the March of Dimes Foundation, Firelands Chapter.
