Bense Vision First Clinic In Newfoundland To Purchase IDesign Advanced WaveScan Studio

Bense Vision is pleased to announce that they are the first clinic in Newfoundland to purchase the iDesign Advanced WaveScan Studio. The iDesign Advanced WaveScan Studio is the latest technological development in the field of LASIK surgery.

With the addition of the iDesign Advanced WaveScan Studio, Bense Vision is the first clinic in Newfoundland, and one of the first in Canada, to offer the latest in LASIK surgery procedures to its patients. The iDesign Advanced WaveScan Studio features advanced scanning technology that creates a comprehensive map of the eye which is then used to determine where and how the LASIK surgery should be performed.

Millions of people struggle with their vision. The sources of vision problems can be due to heredity, accidents, illnesses or even age. For many, the development of LASIK surgery has given them the gift of sight but there have been some limitations. While the procedure has given many patients 20/20 vision, there have been some who still need to wear glasses or contacts.

Part of the challenge for eye surgeons has been the inability to obtain a complete picture of the eye and all imperfections that may exist. Each eye has its own characteristics and the conditions that cause nearsightedness, astigmatism or other vision problems can vary, depending on the severity of the problem and the wavefront measurements of the eye. The iDesign Advanced WaveScan Studio scans the eye and makes a colored map of it, pinpointing where imperfections are located and showing surgeons a 3-D image. This, in turn, provides the following benefits:

• Enables customised LASIK treatment for each eye
• Creates a more in-depth picture of the eye
• Painless procedure
• The mapping takes seconds, minimising physical discomfort.
• Produces greater accuracy for the surgeon.

In addition to these benefits, using this piece of equipment has been shown to significantly increase the results for patients. In 2012, a study on the iDesign Advanced WaveScan Studio's effectiveness was conducted in Canada at four different sites. During the study a LASIK procedure using the new technology was performed on 108 myopic eyes. Six months after the procedure was performed, examinations showed that 93 percent of the eyes treated were found to have a vision reading of 20/20 or higher.

The arrival of the iDesign Advanced WaveScan Studio to Bense Vision provides eye patients in Newfoundland with an improved LASIK experience. To determine potential eligibility for a LASIK procedure and obtain more information, visit bense.ca.
