Appleton, WI Restaurant Introduces New Concept in Expert Menu Pairing

Osorio's Latin Fusion will be hosting its first ever Scotch Dinner in Appleton, Wisconsin, November 12, 2013. Various scotches will be expertly paired with the restaurant's uniquely "Latinized" dishes, hand-picked by Executive Chef, Liborio Osorio.

Osorio's Latin Fusion restaurant in Appleton, WI just took traditional menu-pairing up another notch. The family owned and operated restaurant has had great success with their monthly wine dinners, and are now excited to announce their first reservations-only Scotch dinner, complete with 5 courses and an assorted selection of Scotland single malts.

Owner and Executive Chef, Liborio Osorio, expressed great enthusiasm regarding the custom menu. "I am thrilled to share some of our latest creations," he said, "We've been working on the menu for some time now and believe we have created something quite special."

The uniquely decadent affair will begin promptly at 7pm on November 12. The evening will commence with a proper introduction from co-owner and Scotch connoisseur, Kim Finnell. She will be acting as "tour guide" for the evening, as she takes guests on a journey through the various regions of Scotland, while incorporating a truly International experience as the distinctive flavor profiles of five different Scotch selections are expertly paired with the Appleton restaurant's signature Latin-infused cuisine.

The thoughtfully planned menu for the evening includes:

First Course:
Latinized Scotch Egg
Scotch Pairing - Oban 14 from the Highland region features a smooth and sensual nose, and is packed full of viscous deliciousness.

Second Course:
Carrot and Ginger Infused Soup
Scotch Pairing - Auchentosshan 12 from the Scottish Lowlands offers citrus notes that perfectly compliment the flavors of this Osorio family recipe.

Third Course:
Swordfish Filet with Tamarind and Ginger
Scotch Pairing - Balvenie Double Wood 12 from the Speyside region features a palate with gentle spice and soft hints of vanilla with a warm, dry finish.

Fourth Course:
Coffee-Chile Rubbed New Zealand Lamb
Scotch Pairing - Lagavulin 16 from the shores of Islay is a peaty Scotch with a heady essence of smoke and a strong finish.

Fifth Course:
Dark Chocolate Ancho Brownie
Scotch Pairing - Springbank 10 year; this Campbeltown Scotch was not easy to come by, but Ms. Finnell's determination paid off, capping the evening's event with a luxurious single malt.

"The dessert Scotch was essential to complete the evening," said Finnell, "the nose is intoxicating with oaked aridity and ripe fruit, with a finish that is rich and sweet. It graces the palate with hints of dark nuttiness, wood, and salinity. This is one of my favorites."

Quite knowledgeable on the many nuances of the spirit, Finnell encourages seasoned and novice Scotch drinkers, alike, to attend. "There is much to discover about different Scotch varieties," she says, "so our formal introduction of each course is meant to provide a bit of insight for our guests."

Reservations are required - and limited - for this first-of-its-kind event. Interested parties are encouraged to contact the restaurant directly for more information, or visit www.osorioslatinfusion.com.
