Detroit, MI - Thursday, June 27, 2013 (5:30 - 9:30 p.m.) - To commemorate National HIV Testing Day and S.T.A.R. Foundation's 10th anniversary, we're excited to honor 10 amazing women who exemplify STAR's mission.
Online, June 22, 2013 (Newswire.com) - We have chosen women who not only fulfill their daily duties as Mother, Wife, Daughter, Aunt, Sister, and Professional, they have taken the time to commit themselves and/or aid in the betterment of women through: health awareness, self-esteem building, mentoring, educating, volunteering, and demonstration of public professionalism.
National HIV Testing Day is an annual observance. The goal of the day is to encourage individuals to get tested, as early diagnosis of the disease is imperative to survival.
Over the last 10 years, S.T.A.R. Foundation's mission has provided a foundation of self-respect within girls and young adults through mentoring, educating, and promoting the importance of living a healthy lifestyle, which incorporates HIV/AIDS & STD prevention. We've addressed gaps in service and advocacy by using popular youth culture to effectively communicate life-saving messages.
