2013 Accord Leads February Honda Sales

Honda's famous sedan takes responsibility for the bulk of 2013 year to date sales remaining higher than the previous year.

Troy, Michigan (I-Newswire) March 15, 2013 - As one of the leading area dealerships, Troy Honda is proud to announce that the 2013 Honda Accord, flagship of the automaker's dedication to delivering a new definition of standard features, has led the automaker's substantial February sales increase.

The Honda Accord has long been one of the most popular sedans on the market, and with it including a wide range of new amenities as part of Honda's initiative to redefine what drivers think of as “standard features,” it should come as little surprise that it is leading the pack in the automaker's 2013 sales.

American Honda reported sales of 107,987 units in February of this year for an increase of 2.1 percent over 2012 based on the daily vehicle selling rate, keeping year-to-date sales well over 2012 numbers:

• Sales of the all new Accord showed an increase of 35.2 percent from the previous year at 27,999 models.

• The Accord was not the only vehicle to show a noticeable increase, however. The updated 2013 Crosstour saw double-digit growth in sales as well, to the tune of 15.3 percent over last February.

• Honda's larger SUV, the Pilot, sold 9,614 units, showing a growth of 8.3 percent over February 2012 numbers.
These sales increases are despite a large winter storm hurting sales in the Northeast, and John Mendel, executive vice president of sales at American Honda promises that “the best is yet to come.”

Each of these vehicles is part of the new standard that Honda is promoting, and they include features such as Bluetooth phone and audio streaming, Honda's i-MID customizable infotainment system, a rearview camera, and more as standard from the basic trim level on up. With other models, such as the 2013 Civic, earning noteworthy safety awards, Mendel's prediction looks to be coming true.
