1885 Web Series Moved Further Into Pre-Production and Launches Fundraising Site

IndieGoGo Campaign Set Up To Fund First Episode Of Series

The new kung-fu western, 1885, the web series has continued to make progress on its way through preproduction for the expected October shoot. The production also launched this week a crowdfunding campaign on the popular site, IndieGoGo, in an effort to raise $10,000 to get the first episode of the series done.

The last month has seen a flurry of activity for the series. Locations have been scouted and selected for principal photography. A table read was held for all the cast. Wardrobe fitting and testing was done. The script has been tweaked and the director shot lists and storyboards have been tightened up. All are indications of a project building steam towards its start date.

"We are obviously very excited to see things moving along," said Sean Lagonegro, the series creator and the star of the series. "All the actors have been fantastic and are prepping their roles already. They are a fantastic cast to work with. While it has been busy, it has also been a lot of fun."

Among the cast is Dmitry Chaplin, best known as one the regular dancers on the popular television show "Dancing With The Stars." Chaplin will be playing one of the main characters in the first episode, Sheriff Kovich.

The fundraising campaign has only been up for a few days but it is already getting donations from supporters and those who look forward to seeing this series get off the ground. 1885 is the story of David Long (played by Lagonegro), an American who studied Wing Chun Kung Fu under Legendary Wing Chun Master Leung Jan in Southern China. David wanders the West in search of another who came before him. The series pays homage of a sort to the popular television series Kung Fu, that starred David Carradine. But in this case there are some key differences that make this a very unique story.
