Essex (I-Newswire) September 20, 2012 - Zigma® Ground Solutions, a world leader in delivering innovative and sustainable temporary access and ground protection products, has recently been awarded its first UK patent. The company, based in Stansted, Essex, received the award for their GeoGrid product, a cellular, interconnecting ground reinforcement grid. The grass protection tile can be used to construct environmentally friendly car and truck parks, emergency access lanes, driveways, depot work areas and SUDS (Suburban Urban Drainage Systems). The GeoGrid cells can be ‘finished off’ (in-filled) with gravel, ornamental stones or seeded with grass, providing a sustainable alternative to both tarmac and concrete. The cellular paver also provides effective dispersion of rain water and allows the ground underneath to ‘breathe’.

The UK patent was awarded for GeoGrid's unique cellular design – an Arabic/algebraic pattern. This design delivers both the highest weight load rating versus comparable products, together with the most efficient contraction and expansion capabilities, a key requirement where there can be extremes of both hot and cold temperatures.
