Ten award-winning pianists, ages 14 and under, from 7 different countries, perform their first virtual concert to raise funds for relief and development efforts in Chile and Haiti

(I-Newswire) March 11, 2010 - PRINCETON, N.J. -- An ensemble of piano prodigies, aged 7 to 14, released their first online collaborative performance. The award-winning classical musicians from 7 different countries and 4 continents, collectively known as "Young Artists for Haiti", performed Chopin's Nocturne in C# Minor to raise awareness and funds for continuing development efforts in Chile and Haiti. The collaborative performance merges virtual technology and classical art for humanitarian purposes.

"These gifted young people are using their talents to give a gift of their own to people who need it most," said Wendi Murdoch, wife of News Corp Founder and Chairman Rupert Murdoch, upon viewing the video. "Their good work will bring a smile to your face – and sorely needed relief to the victims of the Haiti and Chile earthquakes."

Initiated and organized by Charlie Liu, 9, and his family in Princeton NJ, the collaborative project also features two other world famous American pianists, Marc Yu, 11, and George Li, 14, from California and Massachusetts respectively.
