Worldwide Council of Ethical Travel Writers Announces Membership Drive Beginning November 1, 2013

WCETW Board Members Mary Cunningham, T.R. Threston, Christine Barone and Martin Livingston announce membership drive beginning November 1st with a half off promotion sale.

The Worldwide Council of Ethical Travel Writers has announced an open membership drive beginning November 1, 2013 with a "half off" promotion. Membership is normally $50 per individual and $100 per company, and, the membership drive slices the membership in half to $25 per individual and $50 per company.

According to Board of Directors Member and Co-Founder Christine Barone "We are hopeful that the membership drives brings more attention to the problems of plagiarism, falsified travel reviews and 'copy and paste' theft." She went on to say that the "Worldwide Council of Ethical Travel Writers is striving to be the voice and representation of all travel media members, and, it is our mission to keep our members to a high standard of ethics that (hopefully) will become the standard throughout the industry."

The Worldwide Council of Ethical Travel Writers was started in 2010 by Mary Cunningham, T.R. Threston, Christine Barone and Martin Livingston due the growing amount of false, plagiarized, and, "copy and pasted" travel reviews and travel articles popping up on the Internet. Members of the Worldwide Council of Ethical Travel Writers take a written oath and pledge of ethics that all work they submit for publication is their own and is free from any type of plagiarism and copyright infringements. Additionally, members also agree (in the case of travel reviews) to follow very specific guidelines when accepting a Press Trip or industry Fam Trips. Members are required to present proof of attendance (if asked) in the form of receipts with their legal or pen name from the establishment with the dates of travel to eliminate falsifying reviews and reports.

Members in good standing are given the opportunity to place the Worldwide Council of Ethical Travel Writers seal on their websites indicating they meet the high standards that have been set and they may mention their membership in biographies or bylines. The organization welcomes all travel media professionals and bloggers as members.
