Winnipeg Technical College Ups Its IT Grades With The Implementation Of The Altus Dynamics EDU Suite

Altus Dynamics announces that they have increased their Higher Education customer base with the addition of Winnipeg Technical College who will be implementing the Altus Dynamics EDU Suite of Financial Management, HR, Payroll and Portals products.

For almost three decades Winnipeg Technical College has provided secondary and post-secondary students with applied skills training for careers in Health Care and Human Services, Information and Business Technology, and Skilled Trades. During that time the College has expanded and now encompasses three campuses, offering over twenty employment focused certificates and diplomas. With this growth came the realisation that a new financial management solution was needed to support the College and the services it provides.

"They had been using a solution from an established vendor in the Manitoba Education market but felt the time was right to move to a more technically advanced product." comments James Faw, VP of Product Innovation at Altus Dynamics. "They were also moving towards becoming a 'Microsoft Shop' leveraging the billions of R&D dollars Microsoft invests annually in their offerings such as SQL, Office, Exchange and of course Dynamics. Having a Dynamics NAV based solution handle their finance, HR and payroll requirements therefore matched their IT strategy perfectly" adds Faw.

There were also some mandatory pre-requisites that had to be met, most notably integration into their existing student information system, CAMS. With phase one, financial and accounting scheduled to go live mid-2013 and phase two, HR and payroll by year-end, Winnipeg Technical College can look forward to a new, integrated and powerful management suite in 2014. Reporting ability will also improve allowing management access to real-time data in order to make informed decisions. With the addition of the Altus Portals suite, employees will be empowered to access or input data into the system without the need for full NAV licences or access, greatly improving operational efficiency.

"We're very excited to be working with Winnipeg Technical as they'll strengthen our customer base for higher education along with the likes of Kings University College or St. Jerome's University and also in the education market in Manitoba with the likes of Louis Riel District School Board." says Colin Dickinson, Managing Partner at Altus Dynamics. "And for them, they'll be getting a state-of-the-art solution with stability and predictability in their long-term cost of ownership thanks to Microsoft's software assurance pricing, something they did not have with their previous provider."
