Winchester City Festival Choir Perform In Cologne

The Winchester City Festival Choir recently completed a successful tour of Cologne, performing at the renowned Christmas Market.

Under the direction of music director Graham Kidd, the Winchester City Festival Choir delivered an outstanding performance at the ever popular Christmas Market in Cologne, Germany. The performance served as one element within a larger tour of the area, complemented by a variety of entertaining forays into this historic and scenic area of the world.

The tour began with an early departure from the UK, with performers travelling via coach to Germany and arriving at 3PM. After a smooth check-in process at the Cristall Hotel, choristers found themselves with time to relax and rest. Thanks to their convenient location within walking distance of the town centre, the group was able to enjoy a wide variety of local attractions, many of which could be found within the market itself. Featuring an array offestive souvenirs and delicious local fare, such as wrstchen, flammkuchen and raclette cheeses, the musicians from Winchester immersed themselves in the cultural and gastronomic delights of this city.

Although many of the travelers decided to opt for an early evening, half of the group found their way to the famous Lwenbru restaurant, located on the banks of the Rhein. The following morning, the chorus rehearsed at the famous St. Aposteln Basilica, allowing them to thoroughly prepare themselves for their upcoming performance.

On Sunday, the chorus took the stage at the main marketplace. With an audience of casual shoppers and local residents, the choir sang to an enthusiastic, warm reception, performing several British Christmas carols as well as a surprise German offering. On Monday, the choir performed again, this time at the iconic Dom Cathedral. Again, the chorus received a healthy round of applause.

Annie Woodward, secretary of the choir, said, "I've had lots of marvellous feedback from the travellers. They all seem to have had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. David Beaumont, director of Going4Travel, discussed his experiences with the Winchester City Festival Choir, stating, They were a very professional group who performed with great aplomb. They made the best of their very brief tour and clearly enjoyed every aspect of the trip. I look forward to arranging future tours for them."

After such a successful tour, it's not surprising that both the Winchester City Festival Choir and Going4Travel are enthusiastic about future travel plans. It seems that the future is bright for both of these organisations, and both the choir and Going4Travel are eagerly preparing for whatever thrills and surprises 2014 may bring.

Going4Travel has provided a variety of touring plans for organisations and individuals across the UK.
