Unlike thieving from outside, which is sometimes overt; this kind of stealing goes undetected for a lot of time. It is estimated that a whopping three-fourths of the entire workforce may be involved in stealing from their organizations at different levels and in different ways. Stealing could be from blue collar as well as white collar employees, and it could be of anything from records to unfair claims to forgery and the like.
So, what is the solution to this problem? Employees need to be honest, and there is no substitute for that. How does the organization know who an honest employee is? Can it see through employees at the time of hiring? To what extent does screening help?
