We Want Thor Outside the Oklahoma State Capitol

Online, December 11, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Since Oklahoma state legislators have decided that religious monuments may be placed on government and public lands, Thor who embodies everything that Oklahoma stands for will be eternalized with a statue of his own. He is the God of thunder and all around awesome dude.

The Satanists have already expressed their intentions to erect a monument outside the Oklahoma State capitol next to the Ten Commandments, and recently a group of Hindus revealed plans for a statue honoring the monkey god Hanuman.

An artist is lined up to create the monument but the project team is open to suggestions from the Thor-loving public for monument design ideas.

Long term goals are to rename Thursday to Thorsday to honor the hammer-wielding hero so his name will have to be uttered in clear words on a daily basis by all English speaking humans whether they kneel before the Norse pantheon of gods or not. Surely that must irk someone.

Another goal is to make Viking Day an official holiday similar to St Patrick's Day or Cinco de mayo which honor leprechauns and, presumably, Mayans. Like those holidays, Viking Day is also celebrated by imbibing alcoholic refreshments though mead is preferred to Guinness and Corona (cider and beer acceptable if mead is not available). Celebrators dress in viking garb and eat random meats and do everything vikings did except raping, pillaging, going weeks without washing, or getting scurvy.
