Waste to Wonder Ontario Brings Support To Peru

(I-Newswire) September 7, 2010 - Waste to Wonder's international programme, BIG Bright Future, sees us working with respected and accredited NGOs, schools and charities across the globe, making a real difference to the lives of the people in need. We have worked around the world providing much needed equipment to the classroom environment, enabling school children to both learn and feel proud of their surroundings.

This August, Waste to Wonder supported the "Comunidad de Ninos Sagrada Familia" in Peru. The organization was founded in 1989 by Miguel Rodriques and is located in one of Lima's poorest districts, Ventanilla. The community gives abandoned and neglected children exposed to drugs, violence and prostitution a caring and loving home. The kids not only receive food and shelter, but also an overall education based on affection, responsibility and values. The organization is supported by a team of psychologists, social and care workers.

Elena Jusenlijka, Waste to Wonder's Account Executive can tell you in her own words of her experience in Peru:

"When I arrived to the dining hall to present the gifts I had brought with me, there were approximately 500 children there. We opened the packages sponsored by our business partner, Office Source, to give out toys, musical instruments and plenty of stationary such as notebooks, pens, pencils and other useful "office" items.

The Big Bright Future Box mostly consisted of supplies and items that were deemed redundant around the office, such as half-used notebooks, pens, rulers etc. Once the staff at Office Source had learned about the mission of Comunidad de Ninos Sagrada familia, they were all eager to fill the BBF box with as many items as possible. Thanks to their generosity, the children at the organization received a pleasant surprise on a Sunday afternoon.

When I opened the items the entire dining hall spontaneously clapped with joy and upon instructions from their teachers (all volunteers) they sang a song as a sign of thanks. To see the amount of joyu and benefit these items brought to the children was overwhelming."

Through the Waste to Wonder Environmental Management Process, companies have at last a real opportunity to demonstrate their core environmental values while simultaneously improving the lives in our global community. Waste to Wonder looks forward to supporting Comunidad de Ninons Sagrada Familia again in the future with much needed classroom furniture to continue the growth of this amazing project.
