(I-Newswire) August 20, 2010 - (Albany, NY) – There are 23 different doctors who can or will take a person from birth to death including an obstetrician, pediatrician, orthodontist, surgeon, dermatologist, internist, radiologist, anesthesiologist, gynecologist, endocrinologist, urologist, neurologist, oncologist, ophthalmologist, nutritionist, cardiologist, and pathologist. A veterinarian needs to know every one of those areas in order to take care of animals!
Pet owners and animal lovers are invited to the popular Hall of Veterinary Health at the New York State Fair in Syracuse, NY, to talk with veterinarians, learn about the diversity of careers in veterinary medicine, listen to different animals' heartbeats, watch videos of actual animal surgeries, attend live demonstrations, and enjoy seeing many different exhibits in air-conditioned comfort!
The dynamic and interactive Hall of Veterinary Health (#35 on map of Fairgrounds) is sponsored and organized by the New York State Veterinary Medical Society. The NYSVMS is the professional membership association that represents the more than 3,500 licensed veterinarians in New York State. The NYSVMS is comprised of 12 regional veterinary medical associations and volunteers from each regional VMA will staff the Hall of Veterinary Health this summer.
The Hall of Veterinary Health includes something for everyone with a hands-on exam table for children, an interactive computer area for teens and adults, DVDs, videos, and live demonstrations involving animals.
Create a Summer Memory and attend the New York State Fair, August 26 through September 6, and be sure to visit the Hall of Veterinary Health. Today's veterinarian has eight years of highly specialized college education and is the only doctor educated to protect the health of both animals and people. Veterinarians work hard to address the health needs of every species of animal and also play a critical role in environmental protection, food safety, animal welfare, and public health.
For more information about the Hall of Veterinary Health or to interview one of the veterinarians who will be staffing the exhibit, contact the NYSVMS, (800) 876-9867 or AaronWard@nysvms.org
