Jason Friedman Turns Passion into Philanthropy

Edison, N.J., July 25, 2014 (Newswire.com) - For Jason Friedman, the connection between his passion for hiking and the urge to help his community was an obvious one. Having spent recent years training for the high-altitude climb of Mt. Rainier, this representative for the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters (www.northeastcarpenters.org) has decided to dedicate his adventure to raising awareness and funds for a charity close to his heart – Hands of Hope. One hundred percent of the donations Friedman receives will go directly to feeding the hungry in the greater Edison Area.

Hands of Hope, a nonprofit community-based organization, used donations to serve more than 10,000 men, women and children in 2013. During Easter, Christmas and Thanksgiving, the pantry distributes food boxes and hot lunches to those in need. Hands of Hope relies entirely on a staff of volunteers from the area.

"My long-term goal is to climb some of the highest peaks in the world," says Friedman. "And if I can dedicate that effort to helping my community, then this accomplishment means even more."

Friedman’s trek up Mt. Rainier, one attempted by 8,000 to 13,000 individuals every year, will take place from Sept. 11 to 14. “My long-term goal is to climb some of the highest peaks in the world,” says Friedman. “And if I can dedicate that effort to helping my community, then this accomplishment means even more.”
