Urban Art Value: + 4.000% In The Last 5 Years (And Growing)
There is a unique gallery in São Paolo specializing in urban art. The artists it represents paint in the sewers, apply stickers and do tattoos. It’s a big hit.
(I-Newswire) October 6, 2010 - Some call it vandalism, others art. The fact is that the writings, drawings, paintings and stickers that appear on the streets overnight have followed their own evolutionary course just like any other form of expression.
Milan/Paris-based photographer Enzo Dal Verme (Vanity Fair, l’Uomo Vogue, Marie Claire, Grazia, Elle, etc.) heard about this strange art gallery that has launched on the market fifty artists and went to know them.
“Choque Cultural is a space made for young people without all the irritation of minimalist white galleries”, explains Mariana Martins that runs the gallery with husband Baixo Ribeiro. He adds “Many of the guys we’ve launched hadn’t even considered making a go of it as artists. We saw their talent and we helped them become more economically self-sufficient.”.
And as talent grows, so do prices. The works of twenty Choque Cultural artists that used to sell for 200 euros in 2005 now do not leave the gallery for less than 8,000. Urban art became a great investment for collectors.
Who are these artists? Find out reading the entire article here:
