Understanding How Vacuum Trucks Operate and the Benefits

Other parts that need to be checked on a regular basis include vacuum hoses, fittings, tubes and line routing. Be sure to remove all debris that corrugates in the hose to ensure that the vacuum efficiency does not fall below the recommendable level.

Vacuum trucks are basically advanced trucks that are fitted with a suction motor and storage container on its chassis. They are normally used to suck up septic tank waste from residential homes and industries that direct their waste into septic tanks. It can also be used to suck up contaminated soils as a result of haphazard disposal of chemicals to the environment.

At times, they are categorized depending on the nature of materials that it can suck up. For example, there are some that can only pump wet substrate while other can only suck up dry wet. Other factors that are used to categorize them include capacity, weight, model and their loading rate. The truck can be powered by a dedicated gasoline or diesel motor depending on its specific functions.

The amount of substance that can be stored in the container depends on it design and the size. The material should be removed from the tank after sometime. For example, sewage should be disposed 24 hours after been sucked up from the tanks. Despite the fact that the storage container is made from high quality metallic material that is resistant to various chemicals, some solutions can lead to corrosion and rusting.

There are also vacuum trucks that are designed for carrying only liquids while other can only be used to carry solid materials. This is based on the fact that the pumps are engineered to only work with a specific type of solid or liquid. Also, the pumping tubes used in the trucks depending on the type of material to be pumped. But generally very vary between 2.5-10 centimeters in diameter.
Here are some facts on how vacuum trucks are maintained.

Clean:

The storage container needs to be regularly cleaned to get rid of debris and other waste remnants that are trapped in the containers. Note that accumulation of materials such as contaminated soil can aggravate the rate which the material rusts. Be sure to also clean the filters to ensure that they are fully functional.

Tire pressure and brakes:

Driving on low tire pressure can lead to accidents and reduce the performance of the trucks. Also, the brakes should be working properly especially if you plan to work in slippery areas or rugged terrains. It is recommendable to take the truck for comprehensive garage checkups to ensure that that all its components are fully functional.

Check the automatic relief valve:

This is an automatic relief valve that protects the blower from plugged or restricted debris that gets trapped in the filters. The valve is tailored to open depending on the vacuum space available. It is recommendable to check the operation of the valve on a daily basis to ensure that it works optimally at all times.
