UMA Dhanbad MBA Students Visit Tata Power, Maithon
Industry-ready management education is the aim of Usha Martin Academy, and that’s the advantage they offer their students.
Ranchi (I-Newswire) September 3, 2012 - Industry-ready management education is the aim of Usha Martin Academy, and that’s the advantage they offer their students. The institute works on several levels to deliver on this commitment. They have global exposure and an international standard built into the programmes that cater on local scales. UMA has a wide and deep business network that supports its employability quotient, and it is exhibiting to the world the true potential of technology-based learning. The most significant stance is to ignore institute rankings to develop and implement pedagogy that enables realistic and dynamic learning.
UMA has identified industrial interaction as one of the key enablers of learning in the field. On the 22nd of July, 2012, a visit to Tata Power, Maithon was organised for 4th semester students of MBA at the UMA Dhanbad campus. Namita Shah (Placement Coordinator), Manashwee Tripathi (HOD- IT), Anshuman Saha (Faculty Member), and Anubha (Faculty Member) were a part of the group.
The students were encouraged to interact with the HR department and personnel from the technical department. The rich exchange of thoughts and ideas was a unique opportunity for the students to get a practical understanding of what they had learnt in the class. Explaining the need for trips like this, Amita Rastogi, Dean, UMA Dhanbad said, “First-hand experience provided to students completes the learning experience initiated in the classrooms. In fact, it engages, employs and educates. It familiarises them with the environment of the corporate sector”.
Apart from the technical know-how, the students also learnt a lot about decision-making, problem solving, and the ability to adjust and adapt continuously. More than that, they came back with an appreciation for the challenges of the corporate sector and the gap that lies between classrooms and the working world. However, these guided and faculty-led excursions are a way to bridge that gap as students identify the skills they need to develop to find success in their chosen professional fields. Student Rahul Tripathi said, “In the classroom, I never realised how different and actually difficult professional life is. Now that I have seen a slice of it, I want to work on the required competencies for myself”.
