Trimmers Landscaping Invests In Large Capacity Bark Mulch Blower

Trimmers Landscaping, a landscape service company based in Londonderry New Hampshire, has purchased a large-capacity bark mulch blower from Finn Corporation.

The BB-816 model is a truck mounted unit that boasts a 15.7 yard hopper and 200 feet of 4"diameter hose.

"We are very excited about adding this piece of equipment to our fleet," comments Eric Skinner, the owner of Trimmers Landscaping. "Springtime in New Hampshire is a very busy season. Our clients are usually anxious to see their properties cleaned up with a fresh coat of mulch as soon as the snow melts. Having the extra capacity in this bark blowing unit allows us to cover more ground and complete our mulching projects sooner."

The economic benefits of using a Finn bark blower can't be denied either. This piece of equipment allows the mulching crew at Trimmers to apply up to 8 yards of bark mulch per hour - a 700% increase over what a maintenance crew can move and spread with wheelbarrows, pitchforks and rakes.

Not only does this Finn Blower save labor cost, it also uses an average of 25% less material. The BB-816 has a John Deere 115 hp diesel engine and patented air-lock blower function that breaks up clumps of mulch as they go through the hopper, reducing waste and providing a fine covering of bark mulch on the planting bed. That 25% reduction in material usage means fewer trips back and forth to Trimmer's landscape material center in Londonderry New Hampshire. It also allows the company more versatility to be able provide spring landscape maintenance services economically for commercial clients outside of the immediate area.

Finn Corporation began around 1935 in Ohio, manufacturing farm equipment. The first machine invented by Charles been in 1935 was a Straw Blower, that would chop and blow straw onto bare soil. In 1953, Finn patented the first HydroSeeder, and began providing industrial grade erosion control equipment for the emerging landscape industry. Bark blowers have become very popular with landscape companies in the past 10 years for applying decorative bark mulch, topsoil, compost and even gravel. They have become the equipment of choice for commercial landscaping companies.

Skinner is pleased with their 2014 equipment purchase. "We have happy customers, because their properties look good earlier in the spring. We have happy employees, because they would rather be building something creative then pushing wheelbarrows full of mulch. Our supervisors are happy because we have added hours to our roster."
